USB 3.0 slower than expected

From TG Daily -

The USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) has revealed that USB 3.0 will go through an evolution similar to its predecessor (USB 2.0) and not initially reach the 5000 Mb/s speed. A prototype USB 3.0 hard drive on display at CES maxed out 1320 Mb/s (165 MB/s) in read operations and 1000 Mb/s (125 MB/s) in write processes.

While it was a prototype and bandwidth is likely to improve for the actual products, expectations are that it won't exceed much more than 1200 Mb/s (150 MB/s). Even then, this is actually already more than twice the maximum bandwidth of USB 2.0.
