Is 10" Really Enough?

I saw the graphic below from the World's Cheapest Laptops... blog -

and it got me thinking. I do use my 10" MSI Wind almost daily (for various tasks) but both my 7" Asus Eee PC and Astone UMPC have been relegated to sporadic sessions. Hmmm. Maybe 10" is really enough.

My 10" MSI Wind U100 has become my main computer; I'm not into anything CPU-intensive, so it suits my needs just fine. I'd be reluctant to pay -- or carry! -- more to get more screen real estate.

BTW, I still use my 7" Asus Eee PC on a daily basis to read ebooks. Without the battery, it's incredibly light. I also use it out and about, when I won't be doing too much typing.

10" is fine for reading but if you touchtype 10" is too small. I've blogged about my journey from Asus 1000 (too small) to Samsung R60+ (too big and heavy) to Thinkpad X200 (just right -- Goldilocks system).

In my experience the keyboard matters most. It's the first thing I look at and if it fails I stop looking any further. The new MSI X340 I dismissed out of hand because, despite a good (but too shiny) screen, the keyboard is simply rubbish.
