With ECS' production of 300,000 Classmate PCs for Haier, a company which it recently invested in, ECS is increasingly poised to roll out its own Classmate PC to compete with its rival, Asus. ECS has previously bought out Uniwill, a Classmate PC OEM manufacturer.
Given the Classmate PC consists essentially of off-the-shelf parts, barring any drawn out component shortage, ECS should be well poised to launch its Eee PC rival well within the first half of 2008.
