Asus Eee PC to be released in Taiwan 3rd week of Sept

From CNet (in Chinese) 2007/09/04 Taipei ,

According to the report, the original 7" Asus Eee PC will be available in local Taiwan stores starting the 3rd week of September. An 8" model will be available in October and second generation 9" models, by April next year.

There will still be a USD199 model (exact specs unknown) that will be made available to the government, educational and other specific markets. Asus is also working with mobile service operators for bundling possibilities with 3G services where consumers may be able to get the Eee PC for free.

Interestingly, Asus is claiming a battery life of 4 to 5 hours, and 9 hours for the second generation models. In addition, it will be offering options such as 3G wireless module, network APs, power supplies, etc.

Asus projects to sell 300,000 units by the end of this year and at least 300 million next year, notwithstanding the current components shortage.
