Color e-book readers to become mainstream in 2011

From Digitimes -

Per a Digitimes Research report, color e-book readers will account for 4-5% of the total global e-book reader shipments by H2 2010, and will become mainstream in 2011.

Two companies, Prime View International and AU Optronics are expected to launch color readers in the near future. PVI is expected to intro soon its E-Ink based electrophoretic display (EPD) reader that features color filters (CFs). AUO, on the other hand is developing color e-paper without CFs and expects to start small volume production by the end of 2010.

The present prices of color e-book readers are still too high, but they are expected to be lower in 2011 when more devices are available on the market.
