Newegg Shipping Error: Order 1 Asus Eee PC, Get 5

As a roundabout testimony to just how light and tiny the Asus Eee PC is, the shipping department of long established on-line retailer Newegg has reportedly been mistakenly shipping boxes of 5 Asus Eee PCs to customers who have ordered just one unit.

At least more than one member over at the Eeeuser forum has reported being shipped more than the single unit they have ordered from Newegg. One member, stampedingchipmunk, even posted the photo below, expressing his shock since he had ordered only one unit:

To the credit of the Eeeuser members, they have opted to return the extra units. And to the credit of Newegg, they appear to be handling the situation rather well, with the affected customers generally satisfied with bonus credits.

As an aside, no wonder the Newegg site kept on switching between Out of Stock and In Stock status for the Asus Eee PC recently. For a moment, I thought between Asus and Newegg, they have mastered the Just in Time delivery to almost perfection. :)
