Hands On With The Intel Convertible Classmate

Gizmodo has a hands-on review of the new Intel Convertible Classmate.

Specs include an 8.9-inch 1024 x 768 touchpanel, 1.6 GHz Atom processor, 802.11n wi-fi, 1 GB RAM, a 60 GB HDD (or up to 8 GB SSD), webcam, and a day's worth of battery life.

Features include a quick launch panel optimized for touchscreen use; in tablet mode, there's a dedicated button that brings up the quick launch screen. Pertinent to its educational target market, Intel is also working with Lego to bring its popular Mindstorms to the platform. A nice touch is the touchscreen being calibrated not to recognize palm contact. Most kids write with their palm down on the table and it is likely kids will not adjust when writing with a stylus.
