Windows XP on SD for OLPC

olpcxp.jpg

From Gizmodo -

Microsoft has announced it is working to develop a version of XP and Office that can run on computers without a hard drive, including the OLPC XO. In fact, it will start "limited field trials" of XP running on the OLPC in January. If all goes well, Microsoft said it could have XP running on the XO by the second half of 2008.

However, it cautioned folks in North America, particularly those taking part in the Give One, Get One program, that it has no plans to offer that version of XP to folks in the U.S. or Canada.

But hopefully any anti-copying measures won't be particularly hardcore, meaning it'll probably make its way to the web not long after launch. Bootable Windows on an SD card would actually be pretty nice.

Especially on the Asus Eee PC. :)
