Asus comments on Eee PC 1008HA cracking panel issue

Asus says the defect affecting its Eee PC 1008HA netbook relating to cracked screens was identified before the netbooks reached its retailers. The company added that the problem has already been worked on and will not affect shipments in Q3 2009. Accordingly , the cracking was not due to faulty design or manufacturing, but because it has been using panel components from an alternate supplier because of the panel shortages.
