Kohjinsha dual-screen swivel netbook prototype hands-on

At CEATEC Kohjinsha is demoing a prototype dual panel portable, equipped with two 1366 x 768 10.1-inch LCDs. The screens can slide together so only one is visible. In addition, the base has a swivel. Specs include an AMD Athlon MV-40, a SATA HDD, up to 4GB DDR2 memory, Windows 7 Home Premium, DirectX 10-compatibility, less than four pounds in weight, 0.75 ~ 1.7" thickness.

Pricing and release date have not been announced.

Kojinsha's New E8 Is Tablet Competitor for the Asus Eee PC

Kojinsha's new E8 UMPC runs Windows XP, an AMD Geode LX800 CPU, 40GB hard drive, and 7" 1024 x 600-pixel LCD. It also has stereo speakers, a single USB port, memory card slot and about 3.5 hours of battery life. Significantly it has a touchscreen.

Clearly aiming for the same market as the Asus Eee PC, the E8 will be available Feb 29 for about $600.

Kojinsha to introduce new UMPC lineup 'L/V series'

Kojinsha announced the launch of its new UMPC L/V series in the Korean market. The L series offers same performance with its AMD Geode chipset as the SA series that it replaces but features a better resolution (1024 x 600) and improved keyboard. The V series has the same specs adds GPS and built-in 7mm ODD. Both will be available later this month.

Kohjinsha SH-series UMPC bumped to Intel A110 processor

If you're a Kohjinsha fan then you'll want to take know their new SH8-series eases the processor up a notch to an 800MHz Intel A110 while stiffening the disk to 120GB -- 32GB SSDs still available. Unfortunately, they've somehow managed to decrease battery life from 3.5- to 3.3-hours with the SSD, or 3.1-hours with an HDD. Price is at ¥238,000 (about $2,047) complete with a 1Seg TV tuner and Vista / MS Office pre-loaded when these hit Japan in September.

Are the keyboards of the new Kohjinsha 600 and the Asus Eee PC 701 identical?

I almost bought a K600 just last month while I was in Hong Kong. Fortunately or not, i ran out of time and had to catch my flight.

Interestingly both units have a 7" screen. However the K600 has a higher resolution at 1024 x 600. The Eee's is only 800 x 480.
