Philippine Telcos Bundle the Asus Eee PC
From the Ayson Chronicles -
Philippine mobile telco Smart is now offering the Asus Eee PC as a giveaway with its SMART Gold postpaid subscriptions. The 2GB is offered free with a Smart Gold Plan 1800. As an alternative, the Eee is included as a bundle with a mobile phone with Plan 2500. There are also plans afoot to offer the Asus eee in a bundle with the Smart Bro Plug-it, together with Linux drivers of these popular USB HSDPA modems.
Rival Globe Telecom is also including the 2G Surf in its “Globe Broadband Sulit Computer Bundle” consisting of the Asus Eee PC, a landline subscription, and an Internet connection. Unfortunately, the bundle doesn’t take advantage of the Eee PC's mobility.

Philippine Telcos Bundle Asus Eee PCs
As first reported in the Philippine Telco to bundle Eee PC with DSL post back in January 21, Philippine telcos Globe Telecom and Smart Communications are now bundling the Asus Eee PC with their services to attract new subscribers.
Per Buddy Blogs, Globe is offering a 384kpbs max broadband service + Asus Eee PC bundle at PhP1495 (roughly USD36) monthly (credit card payment) or PhP1620 (roughly USD39) monthly (cash) with a 24-month lock-in period.
The Asus Eee PC bundled model is a 2G Surf, which retails for about PhP16,000 (roughly USD385.54). Comparable unbundled DSL services runs about PhP900 monthly. So the extra 24 months x PhP595 = PhP14,280 (assuming credit card payment) is for the 2G Surf.
The offer was initially launched in the southern provinces of Cebu and Davao but is now also available in the capital region of Manila.
Rival Smart Communications also started advertising a bundle yesterday consisting of the Asus Eee PC 2G Surf + VGA cellphone promo. For PhP1800 monthly you get the Eee PC only. For PhP2,500 you get the Eee PC plus either a Nokia 2630 (VGA cam, FM radio) or the LG KU380 (1.3mpx cam).
More on the promos in this EeePH thread.

Philippine Bank Offers Free Asus Eee PC to Depositors
Submitted by reader Bluberry -
First Country Bank in the Philippines is offering a free Asus Eee PC for each depositor who makes a placement of either P300,000 (roughly USD7,322.43) for a year or P150,000 for two years.
Well, actually you get to choose between the Eee PC and a Samsung U700 phone. And even if it is not clear which specific model you would get (4G, 4G Surf, 2G Surf) - an Eee PC is still an Eee PC and the Samsung phone is, well, still a phone. :)

Edit: Here is the bank's website - http://www.firstcountryfinancial.com/. Thanks to reader Mike Reynolds. :)
