Quanta to build iPhone-type smartbook

According to Qanta Chair Barry Lam his company is planning to build a smartbook under its own label. He describes the product as a "computer in an iPhone form factor." It will have a 3.5-inch touchscreen display and will have the ability to make voice calls as well as access the Internet. However Qanta has not decided whether to use ARM or Qualcomm for the chipset.

Quanta is an OEM for both Apple and HP.

11.6" HP Netbook In August

Quanta Computer is set to begin ODM production of a brand new line of 11.6" HP netbooks that will be out as early as August. In addition they will also have a new 10.1" HP netbook due out at the end of 2009. On the other hand, Inventec is also re-thinking the 10.1" HP netbook, and plan to have their version of it out before the end of September.

Quanta to target ultra-thin notebook market

Per Digitimes Quanta Computer has completed the development of a entry-level notebook with a thickness of 1-2cm. The notebook features better quality than MSI's own ultra-thin model but is priced lower than the Macbook Air. However, Quanta does not yet have a mass production schedule.
