With all the disappointing news surrounding the Asus Eee PC these days (lower specs, higher prices, delayed launch, non-upgradeability), I just thought of posting this video of Asus Chair Johnny Shih introducing the Asus Eee PC at the Intel Forum during the Computex Taipei 2007.
I particularly like the part which he says "I think this one is USD199..." and the crowd starts clapping. Hehe.

Asus Eee PC a no-show at COMEX Singapore 2007?
According to member Cooltoyz of the Philippine-based TipidPC forum, in a post dated September 04, 2007 10:24 PM -
"I was hoping it would be in the Singapore trade show so we can purchase one or if not at least try one. But it was a no show and when we asked the Asus reps, they just smiled at us."
----------
You would think that with the announced delivery date of mid- to late-September so close already, Asus would take the opportunity to hype up even further the widespread interest in the Eee PC.
No FCC approval. No-show in a major regional IT event less than a month to launch?
Perhaps the Asus reps' were smiling Cheshire cat smiles, after all. And the joke is on us.

Asus Eee PC in HKCCF 2007
The Hong Kong Computers & Communications Festival 2007 is ongoing Aug 24 - 27 at the Hong Kong Convention Center and the Asus Eee PC is being exhibited there. Blogger Ng Kwong Tak posted several photos at his blog 人在旺角中. And what do you know? The white Asus Eee model with the black keyboard has resurfaced! (You can read the previous post here.) Either that is the very unit featured in the previous photo or Asus is really planning to come out with a model in that hybrid set-up.
