From The Rizzn Network -
According to blogger Mark Hopkins, his contact inside Google has confirmed that Google is developing a mobile phone, codenamed GPhone.
As to ongoing rumors that it is being positioned as a competitor to the $100 laptop (OLPC), the source clarified that it's more of a long term possibility (based on functionality) of this device rather than an original design strategy. Development on this began before both the $100 Laptop and the iPhone hit the market. Regardless, as Google's primary source of revenue continues to be advertising, Google will probably subsidize the purchase of the phone and attempt to recoup investment off ad revenue.
More details of the GPhone can be found at MobileCommIT.
